What this weblog is.

Creating a blog was suggested to me by a couple of friends, as a more flexible and spontaneous append to the website structure.

Recently I had developed the practice of sharing meaningful quotes on my site, a practice which was… well, pretty unidirectional. I found it a bit unfair that people were not able to engage in communication in a more active way, the possibility of leaving a comment made it much more interesting.
This I find more appealing, and maybe, with time, I will find content that conveys enough meaning to me to post here.

If there is nothing to post, I intend to post nothing, meaning that silence is more eloquent at that moment (comments are welcome).

If there is something to post, it probably may be a quote, a non quote, images, thoughts… or neither of the above, to be determined.  Ideally it should be an extension of my artwork which is… well, my life. Easier to say it than to implement it.

Another consideration is having to switch the communication to English only (I am Mexican and my mother tongue is Spanish), which comes with a high cost since the translation tools are still pretty inaccurate; for the time being it will have to be.

Here are the previous quotes I had cited in the page as a form of record.

Yours truly,

Become the one you would like to be, start saying what you’d like to say, act like you would like to act.
Stop repeating incessantly what you’d rather do differently.
Do what you know you have to do, today; don’t sit on it.
A lifetime is not a long time.

“…of course it was impossible to connect the dots when I was in college, but it was very clear looking backwards, ten years later, again, you can’t connect the dots looking forward, you can only connect them looking backwards.
So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something, your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever… because believing that the dots will connect down the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart even when it leads you off the well worn path.”

Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs

When there is nothing to say it is better to say nothing.

“We can express our feelings regarding the world around us either by poetic or by descriptive means. I prefer to express myself metaphorically. Let me stress: metaphorically, not symbolically. A symbol contains within itself a definite meaning, certain intellectual formula, while metaphor is an image. An image possessing the same distinguishing features as the world it represents. An image — as opposed to a symbol — is indefinite in meaning. One cannot speak of the infinite world by applying tools that are definite and finite. We can analyze the formula that constitutes a symbol, while metaphor is a being-within-itself, it’s a monomial. It falls apart at any attempt of touching it. ”

— Andrei Tarkovsky

Permítame subrayar: metafóricamente, no simbólicamente.

— Andrei Tarkovsky
