Listen silent, Diego Herrera releases a vinyl version of his Musica en Silencio CD

Diego and myself at Pirates Press

My brother Diego Herrera and myself had the opportunity to make a collaboration recently. About one year ago, he published a cd entitled Music in Silence, Musica en Silencio,  a group of original compositions inspired by connections with fellow humans, including (and probably starting with) our father.

It was produced by Diego, with heartfelt contributions from fellow musicians Alfonso André and Enrique Toussaint. The website design had the help of Sergio Alcocer’s team (a bright mind in the world of advertising). The vinyl production was taken care of by Pirates Press in San Francisco, CA

To hear some of the sound, look for the word ‘canciones’ in the bottom center of the main page. Here is Kauyumari venado in Youtube.

The vinyl version of the project gave me the opportunity to play ball with my brother, my contribution? The images and layout. The distribution is in charge of La Roma records in DF, just in case you may want to order the vinyl.

Installation of the machine in the church of San Lorenzo/Instalación en la iglesia de San Lorenzo

Published on May 30, 2013

The old church of San Lorenzo, venue of the Mexican Pavillion for the 55 Venice Biennale, is a structure that still renders its early grandeur. It was very important that the art project that takes place in that environment performed, in an active manner, in a space that evokes aesthetic appreciation. So the curatorial proposal consisted in creating an acoustic dialog with the space. Cordiox, of Ariel Guzik, is a complex machine that describes with sound the environment in which it is placed, propagating a tonal, crystalline, subtle and expansive cadence, that propitiates an exceptional listening experience.

Cordiox, by Ariel Guzik (Healer, drawer,  musician, inventor…) is a complex machine, four meters in height, which describes the environment through sound. This is due to its two complimentary elements: on one hand, 180 long, tense chords distributed throughout three harps, and on the other, a unique large cast cylinder made of pure quartz. This machine emits a subtle, tonally expansive crystalline cadence, thereby creating a unique listening
